Chicago is essentially Aldi's American hometown — their US HQ in Batavia means the Midwest gets pricing tested first, and the delivery footprint here is the densest in the country. Mariano's (Kroger-owned) competes head-on with Whole Foods on premium produce, often at lower prices. Winter affects same-day delivery reliability between December and March; many shoppers shift to scheduled delivery windows of 2+ hour duration. The South and West Sides have historically had fewer grocery options, which Walmart+ has partially filled in — its Pullman and Chatham stores anchor much of South Side delivery.
