Ingredients

  • 1 cupyellow lentils (toor dal)
  • 1 mediumonion
  • 1 mediumtomato
  • 1 teaspoonginger-garlic paste
  • ½ teaspooncumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoonred chili powder
  • ½ teaspoonturmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoonsoil or ghee
  • ¼ cupcilantro

Instructions

    Cook lentils with water, turmeric, and salt until soft.

    In a separate pan, heat oil/ghee, and add cumin seeds until they crackle.

    Add chopped onions and sauté until golden, then add garlic and tomatoes.

    Add chili powder, mix well, and then pour over the cooked lentils.
