Ingredients
- 1 cuptoor dal (split pigeon peas)
- 1 mediumonion
- 1 mediumtomato
- 1 inchginger
- 3 clovesgarlic
- 1 teaspooncumin seeds
- 1 teaspoonturmeric powder
- 2 tablespoonsghee or oil
- for garnishcilantro
Instructions

Rinse the dal under running water and boil with 3 cups of water, turmeric, and salt until soft.

In another pan, heat ghee or oil, add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Add chopped onions and sauté until golden. Then add minced ginger and garlic, fry for a minute.

Add chopped tomatoes, cooking until mushy, then mix into the boiled dal. Simmer for 5-10 minutes.

Garnish with chopped cilantro and serve with rice or roti.
